#todayImet Knightscope K5, an autonomous data machine from #SiliconValley. K5 is capable of recording 360 video with its 4 cameras in both normal, thermal & infrared modes. It recognizes faces, license plates and is even capable of sensing weapons of mass destruction. Constantly playing an eery sound it did not come off particularly intelligent but at least it was gentle enough not to overrun me as I was snapping my shots. After citing a bunch of facts about the robot’s capabilities one of the data engineers rushed to mention that this does not mean that security guards will lose their job, K5 will be only an additional tool at their disposal.
