Interior of a blighted building in #Detroit. As soon as this house was vacated and boarded up scavengers stripped it from its appliances, the copper wires and water pipes. Today the poverty rate of the city is around 40% and roughly two-thirds of its inhabitants can't afford the most basic needs including housing, healthcare and access to safe and clean drinking water. This past spring the city started ramping up on an aggressive water shutoff program to cut the water to thousands of families in the city who were behind on their water bills.
