King Talk: Ferguson- Missouri Everyone calls for peaceful resistance and protest but nobody would've known anything about Mike Brown if the boys from Canfield hadn't stood up last summer and said they weren't going to take it anymore. There would be no 'I can't Breathe' movement for Eric Garner. I believe passionately in civil disobedience, but as one protestor said in Canfield when the folks from the NAACP walked by and ignored the residents on their way to a press conference in front of Mike Browns's memorial 'they only take notice of us when we burn shit down!' I have to say after attending peaceful demos against violence for more than ten years in Chicago and almost nothing being done this young man did make me think. There's a lot of frustration out there on the streets and we need to listen and make some changes and it can't just be chump change.
