St. Louis - Missouri Ron Sparks explains how his son was with 18 year old VonDerrit Myers when he was shot and killed by an off-duty police officer in a residential neighborhood of St. Louis. The young man had apparently gone to the store to pick up a sandwich and when he exited the store the off duty officer who was looking for another perpetrator ended up mistaking the sandwich for a gun. The 32 year old officer who worked for a private security firm hit the teen 6 times and killed VonDerrit died. He was the third high profile police involved shooting and death in the St. Louis area in the past few months.
