I always have mixed feelings on Veterans Day. I respect those who have served and sacrificed, who have lost loved ones and may now face hardship, but I'm also disturbed how little conversation there is about the damage done by America's wars around the world. It feels good and righteous to wave a flag and be proud of your country, but the fact of the matter is the United States government, its leaders and the business interests that profit, have quite a lot to account for. Salee Allawe, an Iraqi girl, was playing hopscotch when the American missiles landed in 2006. Her brother and cousin were killed. She lost her legs. Isn't she also a war veteran?
