South Side - Chatham 'The Fight for $15' came to the McDonald's and Burger King in Chatham today as fast food workers walked off the job in more than 100 cities effort to raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour. Damien Mack, 22, has worked at the McDonald's on 55th St. on Chicago's South Side for about two years. He is a crew trainer and takes home about $400 every two weeks working 40 hours per week. He's currently in school for business management and says that 'I don't worry about my job because we're fighting for a good cause.' At 8:30 am the entire protest took over the 87th St. and blocked the road. Shortly thereafter the police arrived and started arresting people. This was a planned act of civil disobedience. At least 20 people were arrested but perhaps more. Damien was the last person that I saw who was arrested and one of the female police officers was trying to convince him that he didn't have to be arrested. #ff15 #chicago #southside @noorimages @everydayusa #power #socialjustice #osf #opensociety #humanrights #documentary #photography by everydayusa
